ANOTHER KIND
OF SCHOOL

Community Learning

At CICD we learn together, using a mix of personal studies, group work and discussions, team building and investigative research. Studies include eco-literacy, European studies, the root causes and reality of climate change, the Planetary Boundaries, and practical skills training such as organic farming.

Sustainability Training

CICD is a community of practice when it comes to sustainable living. In our walled garden we produce a lot of the vegetables and eggs that we eat. You will get hands-on training in organic farming and experience in how to cook plant-based food.

Solidarity Action

We join forces with an environmental project and participate in tree planting, organic farming, rewilding projects, community gardens or similar sustainable work.

TESTIMONIALS

“Besides the studies, what really made a big impact on me was the practical skills that I have learned during my time at CICD. These skills also helped me become more self-reliant person.
We were providing access to fresh drinking water to thousands of people and doing community mobilisation, I have done many things I never expected to do”

Danail Petrov, Bulgaria

“I did the Climate Activist programme. I studied different environmental topics that included lectures, articles, documentaries, an investigation, and practical actions in the garden. For example, we prepared the permaculture beds in the greenhouse, a pedagogical way to practice and “learn by doing” about sustainable alternatives. Also, we prepared an investigation trip around Scotland, an amazing opportunity to learn about renewable energy sources by travelling”

Margarita Barbero, Spain

“When studying at CICD I had the opportunity to develop personal and professional skills in so many ways. The concept of living in a community was a relevant part for my preparation to the project and to the world – everyone counts on everyone and I learned how to deal with difficulties that can arise at any time as a group and as an individual”
